Ziyang Huang, week 3 blog
This week, I did the reading from Thomas Teo, which is called “The Historical Problematization of “Mixed Race In Psychological and Human -Scientific Discourses”, and this reading mainly used a lot of paragraphs, trying to prove that hybridity and the mixed race could be a serious problem in society. The reading also used many quotes and historical examples from other people to support the point, such as Adolf Hitler and so on. However, I totally did not find the evidence and reasons that the reading gave made the point because it was true that there was some kind of problems caused by hybridity, but these examples could not represent all people in their races. In other words, it is impossible to give the conclusion by only looking at a minority of a group which is unfair because there are always some types of problems existing in any race groups, but we cannot use these things to value a group, and the mixed race people are not an exception either. Our society and world incorporate many successful people in all fields, and they are from all race groups. Therefore, we should look at all people with the same standard and make a fair world for everybody because establishing a fair world to others is actually creating a fair world for our offspring in the future.
