In week 4, our theme is with respect to “Sleeping with the Enemy and War Babies”, I went through the reading “From Dust to Gold: " The Vietnam War not only brought huge estrangement to American society，but also brought great suffering and torture to Vietnam，especially the women who cooperated with the US military during the war.
Vietnam regarded them as traitors，and these women and their children lived in the shadow of war throughout their entire lives，but they are also victims of war.
These children born during the war were simultaneously squeezed by both American and Vietnamese society. For Vietnamese, they are descendants of the enemies, and they symbolized the humiliation of the country during the war. For USA, these children told the crimes and atrocities of the US military during the war.
For American soldiers, they can forget the memories of the war after returning home；But for those Vietnamese women, they lived in the discrimination of their compatriots throughout their lives.The birth of these children did not have the warmth of affection, but the venting of sexual desire.
Similar things happened in France during World War II. After the war ended, the French government severely punished French women who cooperated with the Germans. I am thinking that why wrong decisions making need to make innocent women bear the consequences? I think its because the victims of the war cannot retaliate against the invaders. so they can only vent their anger on the women associated with the aggressors because they are more vulnerable to being bullied.
