Art Work Week 3: Neil Castro, Ben Alto, Nik Nurhafieza Nik Mohd Rosidi

     This card is about the interracial marriage. The heart signifies the love and the hands signify the different racial background and ethnicities. The color of the heart is to say that we all have the same color of heart no matter you white, black, yellow, red or other colors that were determine by your phenotype. we all have the same color inside our body. It is really about the constructional racism that was built from the foundation and history of the United States itself. We made it into Magic the Gathering card because it resembles a powerful choice that two people have to commit and accept the consequence.  This marriage can be played correctly or incorrectly as it can be a good decision or bad decision depending how people judge them.

We chose to make this card because of this week’s lecture that focused on the intra- and interracial marriages that have been happening since 1967 after the winning court case of Loving v. Virginia. Professor Caroline also explained that even though intra and interracial marriage are popular these days because of the “averaged” looking mixed-race children looks like, it is still a normal marriage that have their ups and downs in the relationship.   So, what’s love got to do about these intra- and interracial marriages? God’s honest answer, nothing. It is all about the commitment that you really want to look at or the chemistry that you have with your partner. But, no matter what science that we all know and read about, it comes to us about the acceptance and the tolerance of the intra and interracial marriage.
