week 4 art project flag ASA 115 (Jasmeet Dhillon, Kaining Huang, Julia McCann)

For this week, we made a flag derived from the combination of the flags of our cultures. We used the flag of China, the flag of India, the flag of Hong Kong, and the flag of the United States of America. Inspired by the playing card Nine of Clubs, we made a collage of our flags to show the mixing of our cultures and races. The Anglo-Indian flag image was created to represent such mixing, so we made our own flag to represent us as one. Julia presents the USA and Hong Kong flags. Her identity, race, and culture are blended with bits and pieces of all three of these places. Kenny represents China's flag because he is Chinese and Jasmeet represents India's flag because she is Punjabi. But all three of us can relate to the American flag because we all call this place our home for right now and we have integrated many western cultures into our identities, races, and cultures.

  1. This is quite literally four flag combined. The concept and image are weak. You need to be more artistically bold. Possibly consider missing elements of each flag to create a whole new one.
