From this class, I also have learned about the one drop rule and also the situational identity, which allows me to use my racial background on any situation that I see fit with my background to connect with people. However, when i did it, i was not feeling myself as I do not wish to lie about my identity background. Most of the time I would refer myself as Malay but if they asked me if i am mixed race, i would tell them that i am 1/8 of Chinese blood from my mother side.

Nik Nurhafieza Nik Mohd Rosidi, Week 1 and Week 2 Summary
In this week, I learned about the mixed race that have been presented in the United States of America. They are being ignored and cannot be fit into one group or the other. The interracial or interracial couple are being prohibited until the case of Love vs. Virginia. It was then that the mixed marriage is being enabled and everyone was happy, thinking that they will not be judged by their racial background anymore. however, they were wrong. The offsprings of their parents from different background would have difficulty to raise them as the mixed race children feel like they belong to both groups or perhaps they would refer themselves to one group only. Nonetheless, they would experience much more from the both side of the parents' ethnic background. I, myself, am a mixed-race, however, I am not half-half of the racial identity. I was not being affected as i know that in my blood, i am mixed Malay-Chinese as my great-grandmother was Chinese (RIP). However, my main focus that allowed me to chose this class is to learn the history of mixed race as i am a part of it.
